Artist Statement
I explore the physical, psychological, and emotional dimensions of the human experience and specifically mortality. From the figure to the psyche, I question the various tensions and dichotomies occurring inter- and intrapersonally. My practice is heavily shaped by navigating various societies and cultures, where implemented norms, traditions, and beliefs conflict, prompting questions that I seek answers for; a journey of discovery and analysis through art.
My recent works center around thanatology and themes of death, burial, and the afterlife. I attempt to explore the emotional and physical perspectives of the dying and the dead — feelings of grief, loneliness, anxiety, but also freedom.
